Lime pointing is the work we love most, and we've been doing it for over 25 years. Older stone and brick buildings were built to breathe. Repointing them in traditional lime mortar protects the stone, looks right and lasts.
Lime lets moisture escape through the joints instead of trapping it inside the wall.

Based on Gilling Road in Richmond, Castle Dale Construction brings over 25 years of hands-on experience with traditional materials: lime mortar, natural sandstone and local stone. No two old buildings are the same, so no two of our jobs are either. Every piece of work is made to suit the property, from matching the stone and mortar to shaping each cill and surround by hand.
Period and character properties are where we're happiest. Whether it's repointing a Georgian townhouse in lime, replacing worn sandstone cills or matching new stonework to a centuries-old farmhouse, every job gets the same attention to detail.
We work across Richmond, Swaledale, Wensleydale and the surrounding villages, and much of our work comes from clients we've worked for before.
Raised in Richmond, Alan has always had a fascination with older and historic buildings, and with the craftsmanship that went into them. That interest has shaped his work for over 25 years. Rather than reaching for modern shortcuts, he brings those traditional methods back into his day-to-day projects, from lime mortar to hand-dressed sandstone.
He's happiest working in Richmond and across the Dales, where every building is framed by the landscape around it, and where getting the detail right really matters.
